Think global – Act local
Norley Wildlife Group was set up to act as the facilitator for the Parish council in ensuring that the Biodiversity Section (formulated by NWG’s original incarnation as the Biodiversity sub group) of the Neighbourhood Plan was implemented.
Purposes and objectives:
To improve local biodiversity through practical work, in particular working towards the recovery and improvement of local wildlife sites, the establishment of sustainable wildlife corridors between them, and the establishment, promotion and protection of pollinator-friendly areas.
To foster interest in the natural resources of the Parish within the local community through publicity and engagement, especially for landowners and the younger community members who will take stewardship further into the future.
To provide learning and involvement for community members through informal education events and practical involvement in project work. The thread that runs through the group’s work is imparting the pleasure and excitement from observing and learning about wildlife.
To influence the work of Parish and Local councils, NGOs and other stakeholders in order to achieve the aims of the group, particularly the adoption of the biodiversity section of the Norley Neighbourhood Plan. We will work closely with Cheshire West & Chester, Cheshire Wildlife Trust, Chester Zoo, and RECORD on Local Wildlife Recovery and their other initiatives affecting Norley.
